Lab Director: Dr. Suman Chakravorty, Associate Professor (Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, Texas A&M University)

Email: schakrav[at]tamu[dot]edu

Bio: I completed my B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in Mechanical Engineering, in 1997, and my PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2004. I was an Assistant Professor at A&M from August 2004 – September 2010, and have been in my current position since then. My research focuses on ameliorating the triple curses of NONLINEARITY, DIMENSIONALITY and UNCERTAINTY in estimation and control problems, with applications to Mobile Robotics, Morphing Aircraft and Distributed Parameter Systems. In this website, you will find information about my research group’s work, along with our publications and other news. Thank you for showing interest in our research work and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our research.

Graduate Students:

Saurav Agarwal, Email: sauravag[at]tamu[dot]edu

I am currently a Ph.D candidate in the Dept. of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M. My primary research is focused on motion planning under uncertainty for both known and unknown environments and I am also developing methods for accurate long-term SLAM. I was a research intern at Qualcomm Inc, where I applied motion planning on Qualcomm chipsets for robotic applications. I completed an M.Sc by Research in Aerospace Engineering from Cranfield University, UK on vision-based navigation and my B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB).

Mohammadhussein Rafieisakhaei

I am a PhD Student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. My research area is in Stochastic Optimization with application to mobile robot motion planning. I am also interested in Algorithmic Optimization, Convex Optimization, Financial Engineering, and Systems Thinking. I am jointly advised by Prof. P. R. Kumar in the Electrical Engineering Department at TAMU.

AmirAmirhossein Tamjidi, Email: ahtamjidi[at]tamu[dot]edu

I received my BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran, and my MS degree in Control Engineering from K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. I am currently working towards a PhD in Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M. My current research interests include motion planning, estimation, and 3D computer vision. Before joining Texas A&M, I did research on visual SLAM, consistency evaluation of 2D SLAM, feature extraction from 2D laser data. Robotic exploration, and Navigational aid for visually impaired people.
