Lab Director: Dr. Suman Chakravorty, Associate Professor (Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, Texas A&M University)

Email: schakrav[at]tamu[dot]edu

Bio: I completed my B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in Mechanical Engineering, in 1997, and my PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2004. I was an Assistant Professor at A&M from August 2004 – September 2010, and have been in my current position since then. My research focuses on ameliorating the triple curses of NONLINEARITY, DIMENSIONALITY and UNCERTAINTY in estimation and control problems, with applications to Mobile Robotics, Morphing Aircraft and Distributed Parameter Systems. In this website, you will find information about my research group’s work, along with our publications and other news. Thank you for showing interest in our research work and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our research.

Graduate Students:

DilshadDilshad Raihan, Email: dilshadraihan[at]tamu[dot]edu

I received my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras, India in 2013. Presently I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M. My principal research interests include stochastic dynamical systems and nonlinear filtering. I have previously worked on nonlinear control of aeroelasticity and applications of machine learning in process monitoring.

Karthikeya Parunandi

Email: s.parunandi[at]tamu[dot]edu

I am doing (‘Planning’) master’s (with thesis) from the department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M while enjoying my incredible time being a research assistant at EDPLab. I think it is pretty cool (‘Decision’) to be able to study what I love, have the freedom to deploy all my ideas (although most of them end up in garbage!) and get credited for those that work. My interest lies somewhere (with slight uncertainty – up for ‘Estimation’!) at the intersection of Robotic motion planning under uncertainty, Stochastic optimal control and Reinforcement learning. Currently, I’m involved in developing data-efficient algorithms that combine principles from the aforementioned disciplines in application to Robotic control problems.

Ran Wang, Email: rwang0417[at]tamu[dot]edu

I received my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. I’m now a PhD student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University. My research is on reinforcement learning and using modern control methods to increase the learning efficiency.

Mohamed Naveed, Email: naveed[at]tamu[dot]edu

I’m a Master’s student in the department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M. I currently work on motion planning for multi-robot systems and SLAM for long-term autonomy.

I received my bachelor’s in Instrumentation and Control engineering from NIT Trichy, India.

Kartik Prakash, Email: kartik37756[at]tamu[dot]edu

I’m currently a Master’s student in the department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M university. My research interests lies in the field of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. I did my Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Trichy, India.
